Use the Trail: Waltham Way to USA Parkway

The Bikeway’s newest section starts at Waltham
Way on the north bank of the Truckee River.

The 17-mile road ride option is best on weekends,
when the traffic is light, and is likely to include views
of wild horses.

Part of the trail was built by NV Energy.
Trail Description
The trail along the river from Waltham Way (also called Patrick on some maps) to USA Parkway (once called Clark) has been recently developed by the Bikeway, NV Energy, Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, and the Nature Conservancy. It is 3 miles of compacted dirt, with a loop option on paved Waltham Way. The gradient of the dirt trail along the River is nearly flat; the Waltham Way loop has modest hills; and the southward out-and-back on USA Parkway is steady uphill.
Connectivity
In fall 2011, it is expected that this trail will connect westward through McCarran and Mustang Ranches, for a total of 9 miles dirt trail riding.
Services
There are very few services in this area. Convenience stores are located at Mustang freeway off-ramp and at USA Parkway. There is no camping or lodging in this area.
